***NO RULERS***

You may not use any form of measurement during your quilt making process.

You must use at least 30 different fabrics in your quilt.

Your quilt must not be larger than 440” in perimeter and no side longer than 110”.

The last two rules fall into a Quiltcon Challenge category which submissions open on Sept 1st. Make something that fits for both!!

We will show off our quilts at the September meeting!

If you are struggling getting 30 fabrics, please put up an ISO in our FB group and we will do our best to help you out!

The guild will pay for the fabric needed. Historically QuiltCon has accepted all community engagement quilts but this year they are limiting it to the first 80 submitted. This is the reason for the sped up timeline.

If you have any questions at all please send an email to board@omahamqg.com

June Workshop - Mini Map Quilts

OMQG June Workshop

Mini Map Quilt Workshop with Ellene McClay

Ellene McClay, a member of our guild, will be leading this mini quilt workshop at Celtic Quilter on June 24, 2023. Ellene's map of Omaha quilt in the Modern Quilting on the Prairie Exhibition has been a real conversation starter. You will choose a favorite location and translate it into a map quilt.  Using applique techniques that Ellene has developed to make the collage quilting process easy and fun!  Play with color, pattern and quilted details while you learn these applique techniques.  You can finish the map with either free motion quilting or walking foot quilting.  Your mini map quilt will finish at an estimated 18" on it's longest side.

PROVIDED: fusible supplies, yarn for couching and your freezer paper template. In the information below there is a spot for you pick the location or area you want to map. Ellene will prep and bring a template for you to use that day.

Please bring a sewing machine, fabrics you love in your chosen color palette, scissors and your chosen thread color.

The workshop will run from 10:00 am - 4:30 pm with a lunch break. (Lunch will not be provided.)
