May 6 Meeting - Hand Quilting Mini-Workshop

 Join us for our May 6th meeting and mini-workshop on hand quilting!  

To participate, bring an orphan block, back 2 " larger than block, small scissors, and reading glasses if you need them.

If you did not pre-order a kit, you can still participate by bringing the items listed above as well as a needle, thread (anything 50wt - 8wt will work except pearl cotton), thimble, and batting.

If you pre-ordered a kit, it will be available at the meeting.  $5/members - $10/non-members.

April Block Study

The Block Study for April is the Drunkard's Path block.  Challenge yourself to make this traditional block with your own modern twist!  Bring your blocks to the May meeting to show!  Check here for instructions.

April Meeting - Tools & Technique Fair

Join us for our April 1st meeting and Tools & Technique Fair!  Learn something new!  

Seven OMQG members will demonstrate the following tools and/or techniques:

- Reverse applique
- Skinny and inset technique
- Sweatshirt pocket quilting
- Piecing circles and curves
- Accuquilt
- Quilting practice
- Freezer paper piecing

Members receive a project bag.

March In Person meeting CANCELED

 

Tonight's in-person meeting is CANCELED due to the forecasted winter weather conditions. We will be hosting a zoom meeting instead and will review our normal business updates and leave the zoom open for a virtual sew night and social hour.

The Hand Quilting mini workshop will be rescheduled to May’s meeting.

We could get some nasty weather this Tues, Mar 4th - just in time for our March meeting and hand quilting mini workshop!

 

We will announce any cancellations by 3pm on Tues so check back here.

 

Have no fear - if cancelled, we will reschedule the hand quilting mini workshop to another month.

Join us for our March 4th meeting and hand quilting mini workshop! We have a few kits left that will be available at the meeting ($5 members/$10 non-members). Don't forget your orphan block with backing - everything else you need for the workshop is provided in the kit!

March Meeting Hand Quilting Kit Sign up

 We are preparing for our March meeting and mini workshop. We will be learning hand quilting!  You must sign up for a kit prior to the meeting.  Please follow the link below to sign up.  Kits are $5 for members ($10 for non-members) which can be paid at the Feb or March meeting.

Kits include:  Project bag, rubber thimble, needle, thread, needle threader, batting square, large basting pins, class handout.

You just need to bring an orphan block up to 16", backing 2" larger than your block, scissors, & reading glasses if you need them.

February Meeting

Join us for our February meeting on the 4th!  We will have a presentation by Susanne Jones called 'HERstory Quilts:  A Celebration of Strong Women'.  This meeting will have a $5 fee for non-members.
