Hello OMQG Members and Retreat Attendees,
After
careful consideration, we have made the decision to cancel some
upcoming OMQG events in an effort to "flatten the curve," or reduce
transmission of coronavirus in our community as much as possible. Our
March Sew Day this Saturday, 3/14, is canceled, as well as our upcoming
general meeting on Tuesday, 4/7, and April Sew Day, on 4/11.
We
are working to secure a virtual meeting on Wednesday, 4/7, through the
MQG website and will update you as we have details. Now might be a good
time to ensure you have access to the MQG website, and perhaps take some
of this stay-at-home time to explore the many great resources available
to you on the MQG website! The sale of Tula Pink event tickets will be
postponed until further notice.
We
have also decided to cancel this year's spring retreat. This is due in
part to additional withdrawal requests that put us right at our minimum
number, but also the evolving nature of other cancellations in the
community. While our gathering would have been small and lower risk,
with the frequent community health updates and activities being canceled
that affect family, kids, and work schedules, we want to ensure we can
offer everyone their money back given the potential of additional
changes over the next couple of weeks. We would like to thank Calvin
Crest for refunding our deposit given the extenuating circumstances, and
look forward to planning a retreat there in the future. We will also
use this opportunity to plan an even better Fall retreat, which we hope
you will all be able to make! Retreat attendees: we will be working with
Alex to issue refunds of the retreat fees you have paid. Look for an
email communicating the details in the next week.
Our most valuable resource
is you, our members, and we want to keep you all in good health! Our
plan is to resume normal activities in May. We will touch base with you
well before then.
Best,
Janelle Vogler, OMQG Co-President on behalf of the OMQG Executive Board and Retreat Committee
