OMQG Funraiser

The Community Engagement Committee has come up with a fundraiser hosted by the OMQG to support the anti-racist work that is necessary and ongoing in our country. We encourage you to join us in donating a handmade item to be auctioned off during the fundraiser!

What: donations of any handmade item are accepted. The committee recommends a mini quilt out of the "Moxie" foundation paper pieced block from the "Tattoo Quilt" pattern by Happy Sew Lucky Shop, (feel free to modify the word to one of your choosing, like "BLM" or "ally" or the like) or one of the Social Justice Sewing Academy Blocks of the Month like this cool "Number 2 Pencil" block with free pattern, or other SJSA Blocks seen here. We are also happy to accept other donations like throw or baby quilts, quilted pillows, potholders, tote bags, or other handmade objects.

When: the donated items are due by August 1st. You will submit pictures and an item description via email, no need to turn in your physical object. The online auction will take place in early August.

Where: the auction will take place on Instagram, similar to the hugely-successful Mister Domestic fundraiser seen here. The auction will be promoted by the guild and guild members across social media channels, but official bids must be placed on instagram.

How: You will submit your photos of the finished item.
Auction Item Submissions can be submitted via this google form below:
https://forms.gle/NG2ckTaNSsGRWVFQA

They will be posted on the OMQG Instagram page. The person with the highest bid at the close of auction will be responsible for making a donation to one of the following charities, within 48 hours of auction close:  NAACP, ACLU, BLM, Million Hoodies, The Innocence Project, Equal Justice Initiative. You as the maker will be responsible for messaging with the winner and ask for a screenshot as proof of their donation. Once this is complete, you will calculate shipping, get reimbursed for shipping by the buyer through PayPal, Venmo, etc, and then ship the item to the winner. **If you do not have Instagram, Emilly Phillips will act as a point person for your listing.**
