April 7th Meeting

 Join us for our April 7th meeting - Love It or Leave It

To participate, bring a project that's been challenging you or one you feel stuck on.  Your guild friends will share ideas and feedback to help you decide whether to love it (finish it with new inspiration) or leave it (give yourself permission to move on).

Alternate Center Block Ideas

**If using either of these, do not cut the 4.5" square from your print fabric on either block.

Fussy Cutting - The center blocks would be perfect for fussy cutting large patterned fabric. Using fabrics of your choice, cut (9) 4.5" unfinished squares to use for the center squares on each block.  

Pieced Block Ideas - Another idea for the centers are using pieced blocks. Using any pieced block that measures 4.5" unfinished. Here is a link to free patterns that would fit that size.

**When choosing a pattern from this site, make sure it lists 4" as an option below the picture and make sure you follow the instructions for the 4" size in the pattern.

Option 1 - Make 11 total blocks and cut (2) 1.5" x 8.5" rectangle sashing strips. You will add one strip to the beginning of your row and one at the end. 

Option 2 - Make 9 blocks and cut (8) 2.25" x 8.5" sashing strips and mark as Middle. Cut (2) 2.5" x 8.5" sashing strips and mark as End. Add one Middle strip in between each block. Add one End strip to the beginning of the row and one End strip to the end of the row.

Valentine's Crafting Party

 OMQG's Social Committee is hosting a Valentine's Day Card Crafting Party at the Benson Library on Feb. 7th from 1pm-3pm.  Join us for some crafting fun!

 Join us Tuesday, Feb 3rd for our very own Heather Akerberg of Glad Hand Sews for her program 'From Inspiration to Finished Quilts'.  

Doors open at 6pm and meeting starts at 6:30pm.  Remember we are meeting at Westside Middle School!!

***Please note there was a slight cutting error in the fabric A & B requirements. The pieces should be cut at 3"x5.5" instead of 3.5"x5.5". If you've cut your pieces already, those blocks will be too big. Please trim before sewing or ff you've already assembled the A/B squares, trim .5" off the A side and .5" of the B side. Your square should measure 5.5" before you attach it the other pieces. The change has been made on the graphic below and on the printable instructions.
