2022 OMQG Block of the Month Info - January

OMQG 2022 BLOCK OF THE MONTH INFO

Here is the 2022 OMQG BOM designed by our own Megan Patent-Nygren!

This year's quilt pulls sections from 12 quilts shared to members by the MQG. This year's project will build skill for newer quilters with progressively harder techniques, and give everyone a chance to dive into the MQG quilt archives.
Each moth will include a link to the original pattern in the MQG member area (so, yes, you need to pay your dues to play along) and any modifications to fit in the BOM.

I've heard a rumor there might be a guild prize at the end for the scrappiest version so feel free to take some time to organize the scrap bin and shelf of uncommitted fabrics in your stash.

If scrappy isn't your vibe, plan on 6-7 yards total. The sketches are in six value levels from white to black. Megan started with two layer cakes and three yards of a background fabric.

Share your progress with #OMQG22BOM and #SHOWUSYOURMQG.

2022 First Quarter Block Lotto - Scrap Bin Geese

First Quarter Block Lotto - due 3/1/22

Scrap Bin Geese - Due by March 1, 2022 Meeting

  • For these blocks please use low volume on both sides for the strip pieces and use bright spring colors for the geese. Use the same color of geese in as many different fabrics as you can for each block. For example, all oranges or teals for the geese like these pictured:

OMQG Sends Love 2022

💓💓OMQG SENDS LOVE 2022! ðŸ’“💓

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our meeting this week! It was so great to see so many of your smiling faces and so many new faces too! In case you missed it, one of the things we discussed was doing the mug rug collection for Country House Residence again!
Last year we were able to collect enough for the residents (around 40) and the staff!! We’d love to be able to do that again! The mug rugs should be roughly 6”x6” or 5x7” and we’d like them to include a label. Just writing OMQG Sends Love 22 with a fabric marker would work!
We would like you to sign up for this so we make sure we have enough so no one is left out. The sign up link is below and the deadline to sign up is Friday, January 14th. We need to have them in hand no later than Feb 8th. But dropping them off at our Feb 1st meeting would be ideal! If you are unable to attend or don’t have it completed before the feb meeting you will need to coordinate a drop off with either Beth Jarvis Salistean or Casey Cline. Or you could mail it to one of them. If either of those don’t work, message one of us and we will get it done. If you’re willing to possibly make two or more, please include that!
This is open to everyone in the Omaha Modern Quilt Guild Community. You do not have to be a member of the guild to participate. We’d love for anyone who wants to spread the love to join us! When you fill out the form, please include all of your contact information so we can get in touch with you!
We look forward to seeing all of your beautiful creations!!
*Sign up by: January 14th
*Due by: February 8th
